August 13

About that walk around Mount Rainier: I remember it rained forever. I remember scrubbing dinner plates with sand and thunderstorms that cracked the mountain open to fall roaring down on our heads. My mom says I pulled my hand free of hers and ran away down the trail (She said it looked like my backpack was running away by itself on legs like two strings). They found me after the storm, sitting on a rock, dozing under my rain poncho.
