A few true things about me:

I’m Danielle Carissa: photographer and writer and reader and traveler.

I say, “Good morning!” to people I pass on the sidewalk. I say hi to every dog I see (I also say hi to cats, cows, kids, crows, and trees). I make friends at airports, at coffee shops, at Trader Joe’s.

When I was a kid, home was wherever my family happened to be: a camping tent on the Washington coast, a cabin in Montana, a house in Alaska we built ourselves.

For now, I live in Seattle, and I travel whenever I get the chance. Every time I see the ocean or the mountains, I feel like I have come home.

The best thing about my job is making people feel at home in front of my camera. That real-life, honest-to-goodness, feels-like-we've-been-friends-for-ten years connection is the heart of my work.

I love reading a good story,

waking up in time to see the sunrise,

and taking long journeys to places I've never been.

I believe flowers, clouds, and seagulls are all worth paying attention to. I believe in trusting your heart and following what makes you happy. I believe in laughter, kindness, poetry, and hope.

I can't wait to meet you. You're welcome to write to me here.

You can read reviews from the lovely humans I've photographed here.
