Canda & Riki | Joshua Tree, California
We woke up at 3 am and left the house at 3:30 and got to Joshua Tree at 4:30. It was still dark, the east just starting to turn pink, the road gloomy gray. We finished final touches to outfits and hair and eyes, and then we walked across the road and into the desert.
I photographed them standing together with the sunrise at their backs, with the sunrise on their faces.
They left their shoes and went (carefully; watch out for cacti!) barefoot. We climbed rocks and stood in the road and spotted a jackrabbit. And then when the sky was deep blue and the air turned hot we drove into town for coffee and breakfast, and then back home for a long sleep.
