Grace & Austin | Anchorage, Alaska
When I lived at the feet of these mountains, I was just a kid. I went looking for whatever I remembered: my old schools, my old homes. It’s been ten years, and I didn’t expect to remember as much as I did.
I remembered those street signs, that hardware store I went to with my dad, our old apartment building (still gloomy gray). The bookstore I used to ride my bike to was gone, but I found where it used to be.
Raspberry Road and Mockingbird Drive and Spenard Builder’s Supply and The Kobuk, and on and on.
Grace and Austin are two of my favorite artists and photographers ever. We hiked right up to the feet of the mountains above Anchorage and soaked in the wind and the wide open space. It was raining and nobody minded.
